Why no carbon fiber or billet titanium bridge? I would assume a structurally stiff bridge would result in consistent notes.

not necessarily. One of these may be better than a given wooden instrument, even one of high quality or a higher price. However, these are by no means “better”
than wooden instruments just because they are carbon fiber. I have one of the violins and I’ve played better wooden violins… They’re not necessarily superior. But they are good instruments and they do have the convenient advantages over wooden instruments, such as as durability, and holding up in adverse weather conditions.

How expensive are those?

I believe about $6000 which is not that much for a cello really.

i think it’s all about how they make the instrument. i’d bet, though, because we can manipulate carbon fiber so much more than wood, if they put a bit of R&D money into manipulating carbon fiber’s ability to conduct vibration, they can probably ever so nearly duplicate the sound quality of even the best wooden instruments – given that somebody is willing to say, “take apart my Strad, so you can duplicate how it conducts vibraton with carbon fiber material,” of course.
